As a temporary employee, you will receive three important documents for your employment contract with Prokonak: the Temporary Employment Agreement, the Temporary Employment Confirmation and the Personnel Guide.

  • Temporary Employment Contract: Contains the term and details of employer and employee. This contract is signed by both parties.
  • Temporary Confirmation: This contains the terms and conditions of employment for the specific client, such as salary, work scope, position, benefits, collective bargaining agreement, and hirer. These terms and conditions may vary from client to client.
  • Staff Guide: Contains various pertinent employment information.

These documents make up the agreement between Prokonak and the temporary worker.

If you wish to stop working for Prokonak, please inform your contact person in writing and in good time, preferably one month before your temporary contract expires. If you want to quit during your contract, a notice period of one month applies. Failure to comply with this may result in administrative charges. Oral cancellations will not be processed.

5. Salary

Prokonak pays the previous week's salary every Thursday. This means that if you start work in week 1, you will receive week 1's salary in week 2. In most cases, the salary will be in your account by Friday at the latest.

Pay slips and annual statements will be sent to you by email. Pay slips will be sent to you every Thursday on which you have received a payment from Prokonak. If there is no payment, no payslip will be sent. You will receive the annual statement once a year, at the beginning of each year, summarizing the previous year.

We reserve money for various things, such as vacation pay, vacation days and excess statutory leave. These reservations are visible on your pay slip. Vacation pay is added to your salary each week and paid out immediately. Vacations can be taken whenever you want a day off; this reservation ensures that you get paid for that day. When you leave employment, any remaining reserves are paid out within 6 weeks. Leave in excess of the statutory entitlement is paid out weekly.

Payroll tax is a collective term for payroll taxes and national insurance contributions. Wage tax is a tax paid by every working person and is used for public benefits and social security payments. The national insurance premiums consist of the AOW premium, WLZ premium (Long-Term Care Act) and ANW premium (General Surviving Dependents Act). These premiums and payroll taxes are combined in the payroll tax. Prokonak automatically deducts this amount from your salary and remits it.

This varies from person to person.

If you have any doubts whether the salary paid by Prokonak is correct, please contact Prokonak's Support Team. They can be reached by phone, email and the P4F chat. You can find the Support Team's contact information in your work schedule in the P4F app and on our web page. Clearly indicate what you think is incorrect (for example, the number of hours worked). This will then be checked and you will receive feedback on this. If you are correct, a correction will be made on the next payroll.

6. Vacation and leave

You can submit your vacation request through the P4F app, where we can approve or disapprove it. Consult your vacation dates with the company manager and account manager at least two weeks in advance. If you do not show up for work without notifying us, you will be fined €50 for expenses incurred. On the Thursday before you return to the Netherlands, you should confirm this and indicate when you will arrive. You can do this by calling 070 216 64 77 between 14:00 and 16:30 (Monday to Friday).

Vacation pay is added to your salary each week and paid directly. Vacations can be taken whenever you want a day off; this reservation ensures that you get paid for that day. When you leave employment, your reserves are paid out six weeks after your last salary payment.

Yes, you may! Submit your vacation request to your account manager, after which it will be discussed with the absence supervisor/casemanager. The absence supervisor/casemanager will check with the company doctor whether traveling will not hinder your recovery and/or reintegration. If this is not the case, your request will be confirmed. If the company doctor indicates that your vacation could hinder your recovery or reintegration, your request will be denied. If you do leave against the advice, this may have consequences for your temporary employment contract.

Leave hours can only be taken if you have not worked for at least one day (7.6 hours). Submit your request for payment of leave hours by email to the Support Team by Tuesday 12:00 noon. Make sure you have sufficient balance on your reserves to meet the requirements for leave hour payout.

Consult your vacation dates with the business manager at least two weeks in advance. Then complete the vacation request and submit it to the business manager.

7. Illness

At Prokonak, you report your absence due to illness in two steps:

  1. Call the emergency line to report your absence due to illness. This must be done at least one hour before you start work.
  2. Register your sick call in the Plan4Flex app.

The hiring company is immediately informed of your absence. Make sure you have completed both steps to comply with Prokonak's absence protocol. If you do not complete one of the steps correctly, there may be consequences for salary continuation during illness.

When you are better and able to return to work, report your attendance through the Plan4Flex app using the "Report Better" button. This should also be done a good hour before you start work. The hiring company will be notified of your attendance. Your get well notification does not require contacting the emergency line

When you are sick, report your absence by phone to the emergency phone. The person at the emergency phone will ask you some questions, such as when you expect to be able to return to work. Your sick call will be forwarded to the client and Prokonak's absence administration. Between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. you should stay home, as you may receive a call or a home visit. Make sure you are always available!

Prokonak's absence supervisor/casemanager will guide you during your absence to work together on a speedy recovery. We will also see if you can perform adapted work, tailored to your (temporary) limitations. You may be invited for a consultation with the company doctor in the near future. The company doctor assesses to what extent you can carry out your own work or other work. His advice is leading and must be followed.

If you disagree with the company doctor's advice, you can request an expert opinion from the UWV. The costs of this are €100 and are at your own expense. While applying for the expert opinion, both you and we must follow the company doctor's advice until the results are in. According to the Wet Poortwachter, activities are planned during your absence to assist you as much as possible with your recovery and reintegration.

Yes, Zorg en Zekerheid health insurance is available through Prokonak. Its cost is €38.02 per week (2025). This amount is automatically deducted from your salary. Note: Dutch health insurance is mandatory for everyone working in the Netherlands. It is not possible to temporarily stop your health insurance during your vacation if you have a contract.

A waiting day is the first unpaid day of incapacity for work, such as due to illness.

When wages are continued from the employer, sick pay is calculated based on the average wage for the 13 calendar weeks prior to the first day of disability. During the first 52 weeks of disability, you are entitled to 91% of your actual hourly wage, with a minimum of 100% of the legal minimum wage. After 52 weeks of disability, 80% of your hourly wage (minimum of the legal minimum wage per hour) will be paid in sick pay.

You must keep the agreements in the protocol and cooperate in your recovery and reintegration. Failure to do so may result in a warning. If problems persist, the employer has the right to stop payment of wages.

8. Retirement

You start accruing pension through the NBBU's pension fund, Stipp, as soon as you have worked for us for more than 26 weeks and are 21 years of age or older.

Yes, you retain your right to a pension even if you return to your country of origin.

For more information about your pension, visit the pension provider's website: www.stippensioen.nl. The information is available in several languages.

9. Students and scholars

Yes, this is possible. However, it is important that you can prove that you are enrolled in a day program. Students from abroad require an ISIC card, which you can apply for at www.isic.nl.

Scholars aged 16 and 17 may work an average of 40 hours per week, including school hours. Pupils aged 15 may also work 40 hours, but for a maximum of 2 hours on school days. Scholars aged 13 and 14 may work a maximum of 35 hours per week during school vacations and may not work on school days. For more details on working hours, visit the central government website: young people and work.

This depends on the arrangements with the hirer, Prokonak's customer. Before starting your work, you will hear whether Prokonak offers transportation.

10. Payroll

Yes, this is possible. However, it is important that you can prove that you are enrolled in a day program. Students from abroad require an ISIC card, which you can apply for at www.isic.nl.

Extraterritorial expenses (ET expenses) are a tax scheme that allows employees living abroad and working temporarily in the Netherlands to receive a tax-free allowance. A temporary worker then forgoes part of the taxed wage and receives a tax-free allowance in exchange. The following taxed wages can be exchanged:

  • Extra-legal vacations (up to 81%)
  • Allowances for irregular working hours and overtime (up to 100%)
  • Wages above the legal minimum wage (up to 81%)

The following ET expenses are eligible for exchange:

  • Dual housing costs
  • Transportation to and from the Netherlands
  • Additional living expenses (living expenses in the Netherlands are often more expensive than in the country of origin. Based on figures per country, the maximum amount per week that can be reimbursed for additional living expenses has been calculated).

Wage tax is calculated on your hours worked. In the white weekly wage table of the tax authorities, you can find exactly what should be paid for what gross weekly wage. Special rate is calculated at the time of "special" remuneration, such as bonus/performance pay and settlement of reserves.

  • Vacation pay is paid weekly along with weekly wages.
  • Vacation hours are paid out after actual leave taken or upon leaving employment.
  • When you leave employment, the reserves are paid out once you have not worked for 6 weeks.

During the first 26 weeks worked, you do not accrue pension. From week 27, if you are 21 years of age or older, you start building up pension according to the STIPP basic scheme. The employer pays for this basic plan, so you won't see any amounts on your paycheck. The heading "pns" at the top of your paycheck indicates whether you are enrolled in the STIPP pension fund with Y/N. After 52 worked weeks or when moving to phase B, the basic plan changes to the STIPP "plus" pension plan. From then on, you contribute a percentage of your own pension accrual.

The pay stub contains various components that relate to the amount paid to an employee. An explanation of the payslip can be downloaded from the following link: [Explanation of payslip].

Your gross pay is different from the amount you receive in your bank account. The amount you actually receive is called net pay. The most common deductions from your paycheck are:

  • Payroll tax
  • National insurance contributions
  • Pension premium Deductions and offsets, such as for a parking fine or security deposit, are also processed through the payslip (visible at the bottom of the payslip). Deductions and offsets may only be made on wages above the legal minimum wage. This means that sometimes the full amount cannot be deducted and the remaining portion is carried over to the next payment (or you receive a payment request through Pay portal). This continues until the full deduction or offset has been made. In addition, the pay stub also lists all gross and net deductions and allowances.

Tax must be paid on your wages. This tax is withheld through payroll taxes and remitted by the employer to the tax authorities. Different tax rates apply, depending on factors such as the amount of your income, the type of income and whether you are entitled to AOW.

Under the Minimum Wage and Minimum Holiday Allowance Act (WML), an employer is required to pay the employee the net statutory minimum wage per bank. Deductions that cause an employee to receive less than the WML are shown on the pay slip, but the difference between the WML and the actual wage earned is moved to the WAS balance as a minus amount. This amount must be repaid by the employee to Prokonak via debit card transaction, pay portal, wire transfer or cash.
